Two in custody after FBI raid home on Vandiver Drive in Columbia

Two people were taken into custody on Thursday after the FBI raided a home on Vandiver Drive in Columbia.

Columbia police and the Boone County Sheriff’s Department responded to the home in the 1100 block of Vandiver Drive to assist the FBI. ABC 17 News was there as one man was detained by police.

According to a witness, the raid began around 2 p.m. Thursday. About 15 law enforcement vehicles were present at one time. The witness said he saw law enforcement officers surround the home with their weapons drawn.

Bridget Patton, an FBI spokesperson told ABC 17 News that, “The FBI is in the 1100 block of Vandiver in Columbia Missouri executing a search warrant for an ongoing investigative matter.”

Although Patton wouldn’t confirm what the investigation was, this raid comes nearly a week after a Columbia man was indicted for sex trafficking involving the same home.

The home has made headlines several times recently. Just two months ago, police responded to the property for a home invasion, robbery and shooting. On March 14, ABC 17 News found that the home’s address was even listed as an unregistered escort massage parlor.

As of Thursday night, the homeowner, Barry Manthe, is on a federal hold in the Boone County Jail, along with a man matching the appearance of the man detained in the above video.
