North Carolina State University football player charged with drug distribution in mid-Missouri

A North Carolina State University football player was charged in mid-Missouri following his arrest in Columbia earlier this month.

Bryce Marquan Banks, 19, of Columbia, was charged in Boone County on Wednesday with a class C felony count of delivery of a controlled substance.

According to a probable cause statement obtained by ABC 17 News, Banks was a passenger in a vehicle that stopped just after 3 a.m. on March 7 at the intersection Valley Creek Drive and Clark Lane for an expired registration.

Police said during the traffic stop that they noticed a passenger in the back seat had pieces of marijuana on his shirt.

A subsequent search of the vehicle by police officers led to the discovery of a bottle of Excedrin Extra Strength filled with 49 Xanax bars.

Police placed Banks into custody after he admitted to officers that the medication was his.

A criminal setting was scheduled for Banks on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

It’s unclear when Banks is next expected to appear in Boone County court.
