Multiple meth-related arrests made in Moniteau County

Moniteau County deputies arrested David Zarn, 30, and Lamondt Zarn, 55, after responding to reports of a suspicious vehicle near Redbud Road in California on March 14.

While deputies were talking with residents on Redbud Road, a truck was driving up, stopped and quickly reversed when the two people inside saw the deputies. The deputies then drove after the truck.

Deputies said the driver tried to turn around but ended up crashing into a ditch. Deputies said that they saw one person throw something out of the truck.

Deputies said they found a black box containing methamphetamines, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

David Zarn was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute and operating a vehicle without a license.

Lamondt Zarn was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance and tampering with evidence.

In a separate incident, Moniteau County deputies arrested Timothy Farris, 35, after responding to reports of theft in Latham on Friday.

Deputies noticed two men behind a residence near a shed acting suspicious. Deputies said they found methamphetamines inside the shed.

Farris was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance.

Moniteau County deputies also arrested Nathan Weed, 29, after patrolling roads south of Clarksburg on Friday.

A deputy said two cars were parked in the middle of Long Branch Road.

As the deputy got closer, Weed ran from one vehicle to the other and sped away, the deputy said.

The deputy followed and caught up with Weed on Mount Moriah Road after the car slid off the road and went into a field. Weed tried to reverse and backed up into the deputy’s vehicle.

At gunpoint, the deputy ordered Weed to get out of the car. Deputies said they conducted a search and found methamphetamines, digital scales and drug paraphernalia.

Weed was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, second-degree assault on law enforcement and resisting arrest.

The fourth incident occurred when Moniteau County deputies noticed another suspicious vehicle parked on Long Branch Road on Friday.

Deputies went up to the car and found a woman in the passenger seat. The woman, Christina Swearingen, 39, told deputies that the owner of the car was out looking for arrowheads in the fields.

Deputies ran Swearingen’s name in their database and found that she was on probation for a controlled substance conviction.

Deputies asked to search the car, and Swearingen said no. A K-9 unit was called to the scene and found methamphetamines and drug paraphernalia, deputies said.

Swearingen was arrested on charges of possession of a controlled substance.

The fifth incident happened when Moniteau County deputies responded to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle parked on High Point Road on Saturday.

When deputies arrived to the scene they found a man and woman sleeping in a car.

The woman told deputies that their car ran out of gas. Deputies said they tried to wake the man up, but he appeared to be intoxicated.

Deputies transferred the man into a patrol car to keep him safe and then called for a K-9 unit to respond.

A K-9 unit found drugs in the car and deputies found a methamphetamine smoking device, they said.

The woman, Shara Chambers, 36, was arrested on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia.

The man was taken into custody for safekeeping but not charged.
