Michael Porter Jr. confirms decision to attend Mizzou

Michael Porter Jr. has confirmed he will be playing basketball at the University of Missouri next year. The announcement comes just a day after his father, Michael Porter Sr., accepted an assistant coaching position with MU.

In a statement he released on his personal Twitter page, he explained his decision to come to Mizzou and play for new head coach Cuonzo Martin.

Porter Jr. is the number one ranked recruit from the class of 2017. This week, he was named the Gatorade national boys basketball player of the year. He averaged 36.2 ppg, 13.6 rpg, 5.0 apg, 3.2 spg and 2.7 bpg at Nathan Hale High School in Seattle, Washington.

The previous three years, Porter played at Father Tolton Catholic High School in Columbia. He led the Trailblazers to their first ever basketball state championship in 2016.
