Storm Chance by Late Afternoon

TODAY: It will be a warm, windy day with southerly winds at 12-20 mph, gusting to 35 mph at times and high temperatures in the low to mid 70s. Showers and t-storms will increase after 1 PM from the west, moving east through the evening hours. A few strong to severe storms are possible with large hail and damaging winds the main threats. The timing looks to start up in Columbia and Jefferson City by 4PM-6PM.

TONIGHT: The main line and severe threat looks to exit east of HWY 54 by 10PM. There will likely be rain and some storms overnight, while the severe threat looks low at this time. By 10PM many locations could have 1″ of rain on the ground. Winds look to remain from the south/southeast tonight at 7-13 mph and with mild lows again in the mid 50s.

EXTENDED: Showers looks to continue for Saturday. Areas north of I-70 and east of US 63 have the best potential to pick up an additional 0.50″ to 1″ of rain, placing some locations north of Columbia up to 2″ . Highs will reach the mid 60s Saturday and Sunday. Sunday will be mainly dry but more rain is expected late Sunday evening and overnight as another storm system approaches by next Monday. The timing looks to be mainly after 10PM, exiting east of US 63 on Monday afternoon between 3PM and 5PM. More active weather looks possible for next week on Wednesday.
