Search called off at Finger Lakes State Park

First responders were called for a search and rescue at Finger Lakes State Park around 2:30 p.m. Friday.

The Boone County Fire Protection District said a ranger spotted a person who appeared to be struggling to walk up a hill. The ranger reported not seeing the person return for a while.

Emergency responders searched and talked with people along the park trails and at the campground. Crews were unable to find the person reported to possibly be in distress.

Officials said it’s possible the person was able to leave the park on their own.

Crews cleared the scene around 4 p.m.
