Columbia man found guilty on federal child porn charges
A 42-year-old Columbia man was found guilty in federal court Thursday for producing child pornography, receiving child pornography and transferring obscene materials to a minor.
Authorities began investigating Jayme Walker on June 13, 2014 when the teenage victim’s parents turned over a laptop, two cell phones and an iPod to Illinois State Police. Walker was reportedly texting and exchanging pornographic pictures and videos with the teen boy.
Investigators found 77 images and six videos exchanged between Walker and the child victim.
The teen boy told investigators he never met Walker in person, although they talked about meeting several times. He said he told Walker his true age.
The jury deliberated for about an hour and a half Thursday before finding Walker guilty of the charges.
Under federal statute Walker faces a minimum of 15 years in federal prison without parole.
