Cloudy and cool Friday evening

TONIGHT: Overcast skies are likely through the evening hours, ahead of a warm front that will arrive through the day on Thursday. Winds through the night will shift out of the southeast under 15 mph, bringing a warming trend to the region. Thanks to the warm winds and overcast skies, temperatures tonight won’t fall as low. Overnight lows are expected to fall into the lower 40s area wide.

THURSDAY: Rain showers look to affect areas along and west of Hwy 5 beginning after 2 AM and spreading eastward through the morning. The morning commute will likely be a wet one, so it’s important to give yourself plenty of time to get where you are going. Rain and possibly thunderstorms, look to approach the I-70 corridor around 6 AM as the showers drift off to the northeast. Rain looks to end for all of Mid-Missouri Thursday afternoon around 1, with the remainder of the day dry. Temperatures will start off on the cool side, but will gradually warm through the day, as a warm front tracks from southwest to northeast. Highs tomorrow will top out in the upper 60s, with winds out of the southeast under 13 mph. Rainfall accumulation will likely be less than .10″ in most places.

EXTENDED: Our next chance of storms arrive Friday night, when a line of showers and t-storms moves in. These will continue into early Saturday morning as they shift to the east of HWY 63 and end. Heavy rain is possible with this line through Friday night where 1″ to 1.25″ of rain looks possible for most locations. A marginal risk of severe weather is likely, with damaging winds and hail being the main threat. Showers and isolated t-storms will increase late Saturday morning and continue through Saturday evening as low pressure moves across the area. Highs will reach the mid 60s Saturday and lower 60s Sunday. Sunday will be mainly dry but more rain is expected late Sunday evening and overnight as another storm system approaches.
