What’s going around: March 21, 2017
It’s a mixed bag as to what’s making mid-Missourians sick this week.
The doctors at Broadway Urgent Care say that a nasty stomach bug is going around. It lasts for about 24 to 48 hours and causes vomiting, diarrhea, headache, weakness and overall exhaustion.
Dr. Tara Flynn of Mizzou Urgent Care and Quick Care says she is seeing a little bit of the same stomach bug, although she is mostly seeing an overwhelming amount of strep throat cases.
Strep is hitting all age groups. Patients are typically getting it before or after the flu. Flynn says about half of her patients have had positive strep tests.
Flynn is still seeing flu, but not as many cases.
She also notes a viral pink eye infection is going around. It causes inflammation and redness and won’t respond to antibiotics.
