Rep. Hartzler holds public meeting over the phone

Back in February, demonstrators protested outside the Columbia Chamber of Congress, where Rep. Vicky Hartzler was holding a roundtable discussion.

One protester said they thought they were not being well represented because they said Hartzler didn’t listen to their concerns.

On Wednesday, the congresswoman made an effort to hear from her constituents through a town hall meeting through the phone.

ABC17 News listened in on the discussion where Hartzler answered questions about education, health care and more.

Hartzler says she believes phone call meetings are more productive for families.

She says it prevents families from hiring a babysitter, leaving work early or driving a long distance.

The next town hall meeting over the phone will be on March 28 at 6:30 p.m.

To get into the meeting dial (877) 229-8493 and enter the pin 114727.
