Jefferson City man arrested for stealing from storage unit
A Jefferson City man has been arrested for stealing taxidermy mounts, animal traps, arrowheads, guns and a television from a storage unit on Old Lohman Drive.
Cole County Deputies received a report that the unit was robbed on Dec. 18, 2016. The investigation led to Mark Bax, who had been involved in a Eugene theft as well.
After being interviewed by investigators, Bax admitted to having multiple stolen items, but claimed that he bought them from another individual, who stole from the storage unit alongside Bax.
On March 15, 2017, Bax’s sister, Sheila Bax, asked her boss if he wanted to buy guns from Mark. Sheila’s boss bought the guns from Mark for less that $500, according to the report.
Mark Bax has previous felony convictions and is on probation for burglary, which means that he can’t have a gun. Sheila Bax also helped Mark to get rid of stolen property.
Mark Bax was arrested for felony receiving stolen possession of a firearm unlawful for certain persons and for felony receiving stolen property.
