What’s going around: March 15, 2017

Are your sinuses bugging you?

The doctors at Broadway Urgent Care say sinus infections are going around along with upper respiratory infections.

In addition to that, the doctors say they are seeing quite a few cases of gastrointestinal issues.

They also say both flu A and B strains are sticking around a bit longer.

Dr. Tara Flynn, from Mizzou Quick Care and Urgent Care, says after a lull in patients, her office is back to being busy.

The drastic swings in temperature are playing tricks on our sinuses. Itchy eyes, runny noses, and congestion are all allergy symptoms bringing patients in.

However, some people are having a tough time distinguishing whether those symptoms are related to allergies or a viral infection. Flynn is seeing both.

She also says strep has picked up, especially in adults and a few kids.

Sexually transmitted infections and diseases are also going around. Flynn says she has been seeing more cases of STIs like herpes. More college-aged people are coming in for testing ahead of spring break.
