Missouri lawmakers consider changing TIF procedure

Missouri lawmakers are considering a proposal to change the way tax increment financing is approved in the state.

Under HJR 20, any TIF would require the approval of the public rather than just local leaders.

The resolution includes a “grandfather clause” that would protect agreements already in place.

The House Committee on Local Government unanimously approved the resolution Wednesday afternoon.
