Robbery at Landmark Bank on Garth Ave, suspect at large

UPDATE 4:46 P.M.: The person that was detained by police who matched the suspect’s description did not have anything to do with the robbery. The suspect is still at large.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned black male, 5 foot 6 inches to 5 foot 9 inches tall with a medium build and a goatee. He was last seen wearing dark colored clothing.

ORIGINAL STORY: Columbia police have confirmed that one person has been detained after a police presence Landmark Bank at 10 North Garth Ave.

Police responded to a panic button alarm at Landmark Bank, where allegedly a suspect walked in, demanded money, and left on foot with an undisclosed amount.

Officers arrived on the scene and found a person that matched the suspect’s description. Witnesses are still being questioned, and Landmark Bank is closed for business at this time.

Columbia Police have not confirmed if the person detained is the actual suspect. The investigation is still ongoing.
