Residents call for greater police presence on Vandiver Drive

Residents in the area of Vandiver Drive said they don’t feel safe in their homes after police were called Saturday night to respond to multiple reports of shots fired.

Columbia Police were called early Sunday to the 600 block of Talon Road after reported gunshots.

That call came in as authorities were already at a scene in the 1100 block of Vandiver Drive on separate reported gunshots and a small fire.

The home on Vandiver was also the location where Kenneth Ronald Jones was accused of sex trafficking a child.

Residents of the area did not want to be identified but described the current occupant of the home as “crazy” and “irrationally irritable.”

Barry Manthe, the listed owner of the house, declined ABC 17 News’ request for a comment.
