Columbia woman arrested after fight with two teens

A Columbia police officer was flagged down by a woman in the 1000 block of Smiley Lane last Wednesday evening. The woman said her daughter had been stabbed in a fight on Alpine Ridge. She said her 16-year-old daughter was involved in the physical altercation with a 15-year-old and the teen’s mother, identified as Tara Thorpe. The officer saw that the victim had a laceration to the right side of her face from above her eyebrow down to her lip. The assault happened in the 5100 block of Alpine Ridge. The victim was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Tara L. Thorpe was arrested on Friday for armed criminal action, second degree endangering the welfare of a child and second degree assault.
