Storm damage and power outages reported across mid-Missouri following severe storms

Strong storms have left behind widespread damage across mid-Missouri and hundreds of people without power.

Ameren Missouri’s outage map shows these outages as of 4:00am Tuesday:

Boone: 1

Camden: 98

Cole: 9

Cooper: 50

Gasconade: 14

Osage: 385

Maries: 392

Miller: 339

Morgan: 956

In addition to these outages, at least 76 Columbia Water and Light customers are without power. ABC 17 News talked to crews working near Providence and Stadium Tuesday morning who were working to replace three power poles.

Crews say two poles were knocked over in last night’s storms and one was cracked. Water and Light workers were working to replace those poles overnight Tuesday and say they will likely be on scene of a few more hours. They say they plan to replace the cracked pole later Tuesday morning.

As of 4:00am Tuesday, Boone Electric Cooperative was not reporting any outages.

ABC 17 News has also taken several reports of damage across the area.

In Columbia, roofing of a building near Providence and Vandiver was blown off. Our ABC 17 News crews saw pieces of roofing laying in the parking lot of the building.

ABC 17 News also talked to the Macon County Sheriff’s Department Tuesday morning. It says it got reports of several tornado sightings Monday night, but says it does not believe any actually touched down. The sheriff’s department says it had gotten reports of wind damage and power lines down, but said it did not have any reports of injuries.

The Macon County EMA director tells ABC 17 News it had some power lines down in the county and says a lean-to structure blew over south of Bevier. She said trees and limbs were down throughout the county, but says they have all been cleared.

A viewer also called ABC 17 News Tuesday morning and reported damage south of Anabel in Macon County. The viewer reported a hog barn down, shingles off the roof, and a barn roof off in the area.

The Cooper County Sheriff’s Office released an update on damage reports Tuesday morning. EMA Director Chris Howard says the agency has taken reports of damages to homes, out buildings and power poles. The line of damage ranges from Highway 135 just south of Pilot Grove to a line northeast to Highway 5 and Mile corner Road. Howard says he has contacted the National Weather Service and they are going to send a team out to survey the damage and determine if it was caused by straight line winds or a tornado.1400 people lost power and it was being restored through the morning hours.

The Osage County Sheriff’s Department told ABC 17 News it had reports of quite a few buildings damaged in Freeburg. It says it has no known injuries right now, but expects people will report more damage as they wake up Tuesday morning.

Maries County R-I Schools in Vienna has also cancelled classes for Tuesday due to a power outage.

Mendon: (Chariton Co), Wind damage, power poles snapped, 2 by 4s scattered across the road

Clifton City: (Cooper Co), Wind damage, trees down and grain bin moved. Possible tornado, damage continues in straight line to the intersection of Highway 5 and Mile Corner Road.
