Alcohol suspected in Jefferson City motorcycle crash
A Jefferson City man was injured after he crashed in Jefferson City Thursday afternoon.
According to the Jefferson City Police Department, Donald L. Hampton, 63, wrecked his motorcycle on High Street near the West Main Street intersection shortly before 5:40 p.m.
Police said Hampton was driving the vehicle when he left the north side of the road, struck a curb and hit a retaining wall while making a left turn from westbound High onto West Main.
The crash left Hampton’s 2005 Yamaha motorcycle with an extensive amount of damage.
Emergency crews took Hampton to University Hospital in Columbia. Hampton’s condition wasn’t immediately released.
Police believe alcohol played a role in the crash.
Hampton was wearing a helmet and other safety gear at the time of the incident.
The crash was investigated by the Jefferson City Police Department Traffic Unit.
