VIDEO: Would-be identity thieves busted, flee police

UPDATE 2/21: ABC17 contained court documents showing that when officers searched the suspect vehicle they found 3 I-Phone 7’s and accessories amounting to $2565.60.

ORIGINAL: Two people have been charged after a multi-county chase through mid-Missouri Saturday afternoon.

Denise White, 32, and Terrace Woods, 43, were charged with stealing and resisting arrest.

Security camera footage obtained by ABC 17 News of the U.S. Cellular store in Eldon shows the suspects before the high-speed pursuit began.

Store manager Caleb Lau said he entered the store to see his coworker conversing with what she described as a suspicious customer.

The person, identified as Terrace Woods in court documents, was attempting to purchase several expensive cell phone products using Nebraska identification.

Lau said he checked the name on the ID through social media and found a person of the same name from the same town, but of a different race.

The store employees told ABC 17 News they contacted police and stalled him in the store.

The security camera footage shows the moment an Eldon police officer arrived at the store.

Moments later, Woods slowly walks to the exit and employees said he started to run immediately after walking out the door.

Woods then got into a vehicle allegedly driven by Denise White. The police officer responding to the scene said White drove off and that’s when the pursuit began, ending near Ashland in Boone County.

The store in Eldon is owned by Wavelengths an Authorized Agent of U.S. Cellular.
