What’s going around: widespread flu

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports widespread levels of the flu in Missouri with new flu cases on the rise.

The doctors at Broadway Urgent Care say they have seen multiple flu cases every day this week.

Doctor Tara Flynn of Mizzou Quick Cares and Urgent Care has seen a lot of flu. Flynn says she had a record number of patients in her office, with 88 visitors yesterday. She says about half of them were there for flu-like symptoms.

Flynn also says the flu numbers released in the last two weeks are quadruple the numbers from the week before.

Doctors at both offices say patients are also getting some secondary, post-flu infections such as sinus infections, upper respiratory infections, strep throat and bacterial infections.

With the warmer weather we’ve had in mid-Missouri lately, Flynn says she has seen a few injuries from people being active outdoors.
