IBM to add more than 100 jobs in Columbia

IBM is set to add more than 100 jobs to its Columbia branch.

The company confirmed the plan to ABC 17 News on Monday afternoon.

A job fair will be held Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at its office on 2810 Lemone Industrial Boulevard.

The announcement comes nearly four months after ABC 17 News reported the state of Missouri suspended another business incentive for IBM after it failed to keep its employee numbers above 300.

In October, Missouri Department of Economic Development spokeswoman Amy Susan said that because IBM’s workforce in Columbia fell below 300, the state could deactivate it if it doesn’t get to 300 by August 2017.

ABC 17 News has extensively covered the company’s time in Columbia, from the $12.1 million in tax incentives IBM received from the state between 2010 and 2015 to the rounds of layoffs in 2015.
