Thursday, February 9, Afternoon Weather
TODAY: An unseasonably cold afternoon is expected for Mid-Missouri through the remainder of the day. Some low to mid level clouds are building in ahead of a very weak shortwave. This is allowing cold air advection to still take place this afternoon. Highs will struggle to climb to freezing this afternoon, with wind chill values remaining in the teens all day long. Winds this afternoon will be out of the northwest under 12 mph.
TONIGHT: After what was an unseasonably cold day, temperatures will be on the increase through the night. Winds will gradually shift out of the south overnight, allowing for a warming trend. Overnight low near 30 will occur at midnight, with the mid to upper 30s likely by sunrise. Winds will remain out of the southeast under 15 mph.
EXTENDED: It’ll start off cool Friday with early morning temperatures in the low 30s, with wind chills in the mid 20s. We’ll warm considerably quick during the day Friday with a south/southwest wind of 15-20 mph gusting to 30 mph at times. Temperatures will warm to the mid 40s by noon, and near 60-62 during the afternoon. There may be low clouds increasing on Saturday. Spotty drizzle is possible but most of the day looks fairly dry. Areas north of I-70 look to have the better chance for an isolated shower. After a mild Saturday, it looks to be much colder on Sunday. A cold front arrives on Sunday morning bringing descending temperatures and low clouds again. There is a chance the high on Sunday will occur early in the morning as temperatures will fall to the mid 40s in the morning. Clouds may keep highs from climbing back to the 50s in the afternoon. An isolated rain chance is still looking good at this time. For additional weather updates follow @ABC17Stormtrack on Twitter.
