What’s Going Around: Feb. 7, 2017

If you need an extra reminder this week, wash your hands frequently! It’s that time of the year when illnesses are spreading quickly. Doctor Tara Flynn from Mizzou Quick Cares and Urgent Care tells ABC 17 that the flu is at its peak right now in mid-Missouri. She is seeing both A and B cases, primarily A. Flynn says the flu is affecting people in all age groups. RSV, a respiratory illness, is still going around. It causes a fever, severe cough and wheezing. Flynn also tells ABC 17 that mumps is a problem. She says that although it’s mostly affecting college-aged people, it’s still affecting people coming in contact with that age group. The doctor also reminds us that as hard as it may be to pull yourself away from work or school, stay home if you are sick.
