Apartment damaged by gunshots

Columbia police confirmed that they responded to the 2400 block of Parker Street for a call about gunshots being heard around 2:30 a.m. Saturday.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found three bullet holes in the apartment.

Police say that the bullet holes are most likely from a shotgun.

Police say there were no victims and no suspects.

This incident happened near the scene of a home invasion armed robbery that occurred on Jan. 27.

In the past year, according to online reports, police have responded to the area at least 11 times for incidents of assault and at least four times for robberies.

One resident in the area told ABC 17 News she is moving for the safety of her kids. She also said last month, her home was broken into and her children’s Christmas toys and piggy banks were stolen.

ABC 17 News also spoke with other residents who have moved into the area in recent weeks from out of state. They told ABC 17 they hope this isn’t a common occurrence and are looking forward to letting their children play outside in the summertime.
