Three juveniles, one woman assault two victims in Columbia

Columbia police officers were dispatched to an assault-in-progress on Tuesday in the 5200 block of Brown Station Road.

A 15-year-old female juvenile and 18-year-old Jailyn Snyder went to the 5200 block of Brown Station Road to assault the 14-year-old female juvenile victim. There were two other female juveniles present at the time, who were 15 and 16 years old.

The juvenile suspect and the other girls waited for the juvenile victim to get home with her mother. The juveniles were seen on video allegedly taunting the victims while they were inside the car. Snyder and another 15-year-old female juvenile tried to get into the car several times by pulling on the door handles and climbing on top of the vehicle.

Every time the victims tried to leave, the juveniles would block the vehicle from leaving by placing their bodies in the way. Snyder and the female suspect were able to get inside the vehicle through an unlocked driver’s side door and assaulted the juvenile victim while the mother was on the phone with 9-1-1. The juvenile victim received injuries to her face.

Two other juveniles did not take part in the assault, but they did record it, which was collected for evidence.

Jailyn Snyder was arrested for false imprisonment third degree kidnapping, fourth degree assault misdemeanor and trespassing in the second degree.

The 15-year-old female juvenile was taken into custody for felonious restraint second degree kidnapping, property damage in the first degree felony, third degree assault misdemeanor, third degree assault felony and trespassing in the second degree.

The other 15-year-old and 16-year-old female juveniles were taken into custody for trespassing in the second degree.
