Moberly police officer charged for taking money during a drug raid

According to online court documents obtained by ABC 17, a Moberly police officer has been charged with two felonies after admitting to stealing money during a December 2016 drug raid.

Officer Mark Mueller was charged with tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution and receiving stolen property.

According to the probable cause statement, the drug raid occurred on Dec. 1 at 1028 Sinnock, Lot 57. During a suspect search, a sum of money was seized. Randolph County Prosecuting Attorney Mike Fusselman noted that the evidence inventory did not match the denominations described by an officer.

Fusselman requested an investigation by the Missouri State Highway Patrol. During the investigation, Mueller became a person of interest. Following his arrest Wednesday, Mueller admitted to stealing less than $500 during the execution of the search warrant. He was being held on a $10,000 bond.
