LIVE: Gov. Greitens reveals plans for first state budget

With an early childhood education center in Nixa, Missouri, as a backdrop, Gov. Eric Greitens is laying out his plans for his first state budget.

Greitens is set to announce his proposed budget Thursday at the public school, but the budget cuts will likely take center stage.

Gov. Greitens broke from tradition by not publicly outlining his budget during his January State of the State address.

Greitens’ budget proposal will come during what’s shaping up to be a challenging time for state finances. Revenues so far this fiscal year have been lower than expected, and hundreds of millions of dollars have been cut to balance this year’s budget.

Greitens took office in January and already announced nearly $150 million in restrictions or cuts.

ABC 17 News will be in Nixa with the governor and will stream the 11:15 p.m. budget news conference live here on abc17news.com.
