Drought improves across Mid-Missouri

With the little rain we had last week on the 28th and 29th, under .05″ of rain was picked up and the trace amount of snow on the 29th, moderate drought conditions have improved across the state. This is the latest drought monitor that was released this Thursday morning, February 2nd.

Abnormally dry conditions still exist for all of Mid-Missouri, while moderate drought looks to only be near HWY 24 across Randolph, and Monroe counties. Precipitation is lagging. With only 2.02″ of rain since December 1st, this is less than half the normal rain we see during the cold season. By the first week of February, we’ve usually picked up near 4.4″ of rain, and 10″ of snow. The whopping 1.6″ of snow has had a toll. It’s looking to be a dry weekend, however measurable rain returns on Monday. For additional weather updates follow @ABC17Stormtrack on Twitter.
