Deputies take one man into custody after chase through Boone County

UPDATE 9:15 a.m: Demarco Carter has been arrested after he failed to yield to authorities and a chase began.

He was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest, tampering with physical evidence, delivery of a controlled substance, and operating the motor vehicle. He is in the Boone County Jail on more than a ten thousand dollar bond.

Carter has not been officially charged.

Deputies say the spike strips blew three tires on Carter’s car, which helped stop the chase.

Deputies also say the illegal items that were thrown from the vehicle were coke and marijuana.

The passenger of the vehicle was cooperative with authorities and there was no record of him being booked at the Boone County Jail.

ORIGINAL: Boone County deputies have taken two men into custody following a chase early Thursday morning.

ABC 17 News first started hearing reports about a chase around 2:45 Thursday morning.

Deputies tell ABC 17 News it started on the corner of St. Charles Road and Sneed and ended on Mexico Gravel Road near Paris Road.

It’s unclear why deputies originally tried to stop the suspects, however they say they took off during an attempted traffic stop.

During the chase, deputies say the suspects threw some sort of illegal contraband out of the window of the vehicle they were in.

Deputies say police helped with the chase by deploying spike strips.

The suspect vehicle apparently ended up stopping on a property on Mexico Gravel Road. Deputies say one of the men tried to run, but deputies were able to catch him.

Deputies were seen searching the suspect vehicle, but say they did not find anything.
