Governor Greitens names Lieutenant Colonel Sandra Karsten as MSHP Superintendent

Governor Greitens has named the next Missouri State Highway Patrol Superintendent as Lieutenant Colonel Sandra Karsten on Wednesday afternoon at the Missouri State Highway Patrol General Headquarters.

Karsten is the first woman to hold the position as superintendent in the 81 year existence of the MSHP. She has also served the MSHP for 30 years. She has worked her way up from a trooper to superintendent and volunteers with the Boy Scouts, the American Red Cross and Special Olympics. Last year, Karsten was made the “Woman of the Year” last by the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Colonel J. Bret Johnson retired yesterday after 30 years of service.
