Columbia police investigating death

UPDATE 1/31: Columbia police said the death is still under investigation.

Police told ABC 17 News that new information would not be available until the autopsy results are ready.

Residents in the area said that police were at the residence until midnight Monday.

Residents also said that they are getting worried for their safety because this is the second investigation that involved a death, on Leeway Drive, in less than a year.

The previous investigation was in June 2016 and was labeled as a homicide. That investigation is still open.

ORIGINAL STORY 1/30: Right now Columbia police are investigating a death at the intersection of Leeway Drive and Brown Station Road.

Police on the scene tell ABC 17 News a body was found inside of a home and they are working to determine if the death is suspicious.

Residents tell us officers have been on scene since this afternoon.
