Two in custody after drug arrest on Vandiver Drive

UPDATE: The Boone County Sheriff’s Department has identified the two people arrested in connection to a drug investigation early Saturday morning.

Officials said a deputy pulled over Alohn Griffin, 36, of Jefferson City, in the 900 block of Vandiver Drive for a traffic and license plate violation.

Deputies found several types of controlled substances, drug paraphernalia and a gun inside the car.

Griffin and his passenger, Zora Reeves, 35, of Jefferson City, were both taken into custody. Authorities said they found more drugs on Griffin once we had inside the jail.

Griffin was arrested on suspicion of trafficking drugs, delivery of a controlled substance, concealment on jail premises, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm, driving while revoked and failure to register a motor vehicle.

Reeves was arrested on suspicion of trafficking drugs, delivery of a controlled substance, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and unlawful use of a weapon.

ORIGINAL: A sergeant in the Boone County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that two people are in custody after a drug bust on Vandiver Drive Saturday morning.

The sergeant said that the investigation started around 3 a.m. at the 900 block of Vandiver Drive.

He said that, as of right now, the investigation is not connected to the shooting that occurred at the 1100 block of Vandiver Drive around 11:15 p.m. Friday.

The sergeant said that more information will be released later Saturday morning or afternoon.
