Home invasion robbery and shooting in Columbia sends one woman to the hospital
UPDATE 1/28 10 a.m.: Columbia police responded to a home invasion robbery at the 1100 block of Vandiver Drive 11:15 p.m. Friday.
Officers said that five people were inside the home when they heard the doorbell ring.
One of the people inside answered the door, and two males forced their way into the home, according to police.
Witnesses told police that one of the suspects showed a handgun and demanded money. They said that when the males were leaving with the money, one of the suspects fired the gun twice and shot a female victim.
The female was taken to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening injury, and was released after being treated.
Police said no one else was injured during the robbery and no arrests have been made.
The investigation is still ongoing.
Police said the suspects are black males, one about six feet tall with a thin build, wearing dark clothing, and the other was wearing a cap.

According to dispatch records, emergency responders were called to the 1100 block of Vandiver Drive around 11:15 p.m. for a medical response.
ABC 17 News crews on scene at Vandiver saw one person being taken away in an ambulance.
A CPD officer said the person being taken to the hospital had been shot. The extent of the victim’s injuries are unknown at this time.
Columbia police and Boone County sheriff deputies were searching in the area just west of the scene at Parker Street and Holly Avenue.
Officers confirm one person was taken into custody following the shooting.
