At least one arrested in Columbia drug raid
UPDATE: 4:15 p.m.: Columbia police have arrested Michael Curtis after issuing a search warrant Friday afternoon.
According to police, before they issued the warrant, they saw two “short stops” that they said were consistent with drug sales.
During the search, police said they found in Curtis’ bedroom at least seven grams of crack cocaine packaged in 25 individual baggies, more than three grams of loose marijuana, and three grams of marijuana rolled into cigarettes, along with rolling papers and three digital scales with cocaine residue.
Curtis was arrested for distribution, delivery, manufacturing and producing a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.
ORIGINAL STORY: Law enforcement officials on Friday executed a drug search warrant involving the Columbia Police Department’s vice, narcotics and organized crime unit, along with its street crimes unit, ABC 17 News confirmed.
Officers told ABC 17 News that they first responded to the scene on Banks Avenue between Business Loop 70 and Worley Street in central Columbia at 11:49 a.m. ABC 17 News learned that at least one person was arrested, accused of selling drugs.
A man and a woman were in the home with a juvenile at the time of the raid. Both adults are being questioned. Investigators said they found what appeared to be crack cocaine, marijuana and unidentified pills.
ABC 17 News also saw vehicles from the Boone County Sheriff’s Department at the scene.
