State representative files bill that would ban all abortions in Missouri

Just days after the 44th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision, Missouri state Rep. Mike Moon filed a bill that would ban all abortions in the state.

HB 709 would establish the Missouri Right to Life Act, which would state that life begins at conception and that unborn children are people, and it would affirm that all life is protected by the constitution.

The bill would require all law enforcement, court officers and state regulated entities to enforce Article 1, Section 10 of the state constitution that specifies no person be deprived of life, liberty or property without due process.

Moon is from Ash Grove, in Greene County, and represents the 157th House District. He was elected in 2013.

The bill is awaiting committee assignment.
