Columbia woman takes daughter’s car, arrested for domestic assault

Columbia police officers were dispatched to the 3900 block of Tropical Lane on Saturday in reference to a stolen vehicle report.

Courtney Hall went to her residence and took the keys of her 17-year-old daughter’s car. Hall’s daughter tried to open the vehicle and Hall locked the door. Hall’s 15-year-old son tried to stop Hall from leaving by standing in front of the vehicle. Hall left at a high rate of speed, and Hall’s son was unable to jump out of the way of the vehicle. He was struck, but not injured.

Hall is the owner of the vehicle, so it was not considered stolen. Hall was arrested for endangering the welfare of a child and third degree felony domestic assault.
