Columbia bank robbery suspect arrested

Columbia police have arrested the man they say robbed the First State Community Bank Wednesday morning.

According to the report, 51 year-old Carl Lavell Wade took a cab to the bank just before noon Wednesday, entered the bank, handed a teller a note demanding cash and implied he had a weapon. Wade then left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money in the same cab.

Officers located Wade after contacting the cab company and discovering where the cab dropped their last fare. When officers contacted Wade in the 2200 block of Paris Road, they found cash on him from the robbery, and they located the note in a trash can near him.

Wade was arrested for robbery in the first degree robbery, and is being held in the Boone County Jail with a bond yet to be set.
