Boys and Girls Club begins demolition on ground designated for new addition
On Thursday, the Boys and Girls Club of Columbia began demolition on ground designated for their new addition.
The new addition will become a gym, stage, recording studio and a culinary kitchen.
It will be a 14,000 square ft. expansion, which will be doubling the size of their youth development center.
Both employees and kids are very excited about the expansion and will be hands on during the process.
Our ABC17 crews talked with Valorie Livingston, “We are also going to use this as a learning opportunity for the youth that we serve including them in every aspect of this project and teaching them about construction.”
The club hopes to have it open by Labor Day to coincide with their 20th anniversary.
The expansion will allow the club to serve double the amount of youth.
This is a 2.5 million dollar project.
The new addition will be at 708 East Business Loop.
