Wednesday Afternoon, January 18
TODAY: Low level moisture is keeping clouds in place today, with temperatures struggling to climb. We should see a few breaks in the clouds across parts of Mid-Missouri, where the sun erodes any of the cloud deck. Highs today will be in the mid to upper 40s, with winds out of the south at 6 to 10 mph.
TONIGHT: After broken clouds by evening, clouds will encompass the area again tonight with rain increasing after 2AM south of the Missouri River near the Lake of the Ozarks by 3AM. Winds stay southerly under 10 mph tonight, keeping overnight lows in the upper 30s.
EXTENDED: The rain chance returns on Thursday morning moving into Columbia as early as 5AM. Due to some instability at this time, some thunderstorms can’t be ruled out. No severe weather however is expected. The rain chance on Thursday looks to end by 6PM leaving under .10″ of rain west of US 63 and up to 0.25″ for those east. Friday through much of Saturday looks dry before rain increases on Sunday. Rain increases for Sunday starting up in the morning, possibly bringing moderate to heavy rain on Sunday afternoon and evening. Areas south of I-70 look to have the best chance to pick up possibly a few inches. As Sunday gets closer, we’ll be able to pinpoint timing and rainfall projections better.
