Police investigating robbery at First State Community Bank; one suspect in custody
UPDATE: Columbia Police say they responded to First State Community Bank for reports of a robbery just after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.
They say one suspect has been detained for questioning.
According to police, a male suspect entered the bank and demanded money from one of the employees. Police say he retrieved an “undisclosed amount of money” before fleeing the area.
Shortly after, officers saw a man who matched the suspect’s description in the area of Vandiver and Paris Road. He was then detained and taken in for questioning.
Police say there are no reports of injuries or property damage. The investigation is ongoing.
ABC 17 News also spoke to the Central Missouri President for First State Community Bank. He says the bank should be back open tomorrow (Wednesday) and adds that security is the bank’s number one priority. He also says no employees, nor customers were harmed in the robbery.

There are at least three police vehicles on scene.
ABC 17 News is working to find out what happened during the robbery and who was involved.
In 2014, there was a bank robbery at the same location. Officers later confirmed the robber acted like he had a gun, but the teller did not see one. The man escaped with cash on a bike going northbound on Highway 63. No one was injured.
