Deputy saves man after tractor falls on top of him

The Camden County Sheriff’s office is crediting a new community resource officer for possibly saving a man’s life on Wednesday.

They confirmed Deputy Belanger was patrolling his area along Brownsville Road off Highway T north of Stoutland, when a resident waved him down near a stock gate around 11 a.m. He found a 62-year-old man who had been in his pasture for about two and a half hours, after his truck rolled on top of him.

An ambulance responded to the scene. The victim was transferred just as a precaution to University Hospital in Columbia, where he remains stable.

The department says other resource officers are also assigned to the Climax Springs and Macks Creek areas.
