Man arrested for felony abuse of a child

On Sunday, officers were dispatched to the 1600 block of Alaska Court because of a disturbance.

When officers arrived, they found Archie Hatton and a female juvenile. The investigation revealed that Hatton was upset with the juvenile after locating inappropriate pictures on her cell phone.

Hatton struck the juvenile with a cell phone charger. The juvenile had red marks on her chest, marks that were consistent with being struck with a cord on the juvenile’s leg and swelling and marks consistent with being hit with a cord on the juvenile’s buttocks.

The juvenile reported that Hatton choked her and struck her. After officers advised Hatton he was under arrest, Hatton actively resisted by refusing to place his hands behind his back and pulling away from officers.

While at the police department, Hatton broke a camera in the holding cell. The estimated damage for the camera is $1,000. Hatton was arrested for felony abuse of a child, felony property damage and felony resisting arrest with bonds to be set by the court.
