Mid-Missouri man wanted after exchanging gunfire with a state trooper

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is looking for a mid-Missouri man after shooting at a MSHP trooper.

Missouri authorities are searching for a suspected parole violator they say exchanged gunfire with a state trooper after a chase.

The patrol says that the trooper began pursuing a vehicle for alleged traffic charges Friday night in Saline County before the suspect’s vehicle crashed at an intersection. After exchanging gunfire with the trooper the suspect fled into a field.

According to the department’s Facebook and Twitter accounts, troopers are looking for Troy Bateman, 35, of Marshall Missouri.

Troopers are advising the public to use extreme caution if they come in contact with Bateman, as he is believed to be armed with a handgun.
