Columbia Water and Light crews restore power
UPDATE, 9:40 a.m. – Water and Light spokesperson Connie Kacprowicz said there was a bad underground feeder line to the substation that crews are working to repair.
She said the reason for the cable going bad is not known at this time, but the cause was probably not ice related. She said it could be due to shifting clay soil with the temperature changes.
Control room operators switched some of the electric load to other electric lines so some customers got restored before everyone was back on at 4 a.m.
Sams Club was without power but it is an internal issue and linemen are working with the staff there to get an electrician there. In the meantime, Kacprowicz said they have a backup generator.
