Last round of ice Sat night- Sunday
The last round of freezing rain moves in Saturday night as temperatures fall below freezing. After a break in the precipitation Saturday afternoon, temperatures drop into the upper 20s to lower 30s Saturday night. At the same time, rain moves in from the west, spreading over Mid-Missouri mainly after midnight through early morning Sunday.
Areas close to I-44 will stay just above freezing and most of the rain will be liquid. However, farther north where temperatures are below freezing, this will be freezing rain and ice accumulation will be likely late Saturday night. As warmer air gradually moves north Sunday morning, freezing rain will retreat north with time to near I-70 by noon and HWY 24 by mid-afternoon.
Ice accumulation is expected to come in close to a quarter in along and near I-70 with pockets up to .40″ ice possible with lower amounts to a tenth toward the Lake of the Ozarks. If the freezing line moves north faster, ice amounts will be lower. Look for updates here and on our ABC17News Facebook page.
