Georgia man hurt after weather-related crash on mid-Missouri interstate

A Georgia man is in a mid-Missouri hospital Friday night recovering from a crash on eastbound Interstate 70 in Montgomery County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said it responded to the single-vehicle wreck round 6:15 p.m. Friday.

According to the patrol, L.Z. McBride, 55, of East Point, Georgia, lost control of his 1999 Ford Explorer on an icy stretch of interstate near the 174.4 mile marker. The vehicle went off the left side of the road, struck the median and overturned.

McBride was taken to University Hospital in Columbia with moderate injuries.

The highway patrol said McBride was wearing a seat belt.
