Carl Edwards reportedly stepping away from racing in 2017

Columbia’s own Carl Edwards is reportedly stepping away from racing in 2017 to pursue other interests, according to Fox Sports. Joe Gibbs Racing will reportedly hold a news conference on Wednesday to announce Edwards’ plans.

Edwards, 37, won three times in 2016, and he finished fourth in the Sprint Cup standings.

The Columbia native has won 28 races all-time in 445 career starts. He’s finished second in the championship twice, but he’s never won a title.

We will continue to follow this story as we learn more.
