Police investigating burglary at former Cat’s Kitchen restaurant

UPDATE 1/8/17: A sergeant with Columbia Police confirms Dustin Michael Lipich was arrested in connection to the burglary. According to arrest records from the Boone County Sheriff’s Department, Lipich was arrested for stealing, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a firearm.

A man who claims to be one of the new owners of the building tells ABC 17 News five TVs were stolen from inside Friday night. He said CPD was able to track down two of those.

ORIGINAL: The Columbia Police Department confirms it’s investigating a burglary that happened Friday night at a shuttered restaurant in the 1800 block of Paris Road.

Officers and members of the Crime Scene Investigation Unit were at the old Cat’s Kitchen restaurant Saturday afternoon.

A CPD sergeant said the suspect or suspects forced their way into the building and stole some tools.

The restaurant closed in July, but ABC 17 News is told the property is under new ownership with plans for a new restaurant.
