Staying Cold This Weekend

The weekend looks to stay frigid and below freezing until Monday morning at 9AM-11AM for most of Mid-Missouri. The air temperature will drop once more to near 2 to 3 degrees as skies with be clear overnight. High pressure moves in overhead allowing for calm winds under 6 mph, however just enough to bring a wind chill of -2 in Columbia to near -10 north of I-70 near Macon and Moberly in the morning on Saturday. Plenty of sun on Saturday will help bring temperatures to the mid to upper 20s during the day. We’ll have one more night in the single digits before overnight lows return to near normal in the lows 20s on Sunday night. Sunday morning however still looks cold with wind chill of 0 to 10 in the morning. Highs in the afternoon on Sunday look to stay below freezing for those north of the Missour River. Closer to the Ozarks and I-44, temperatures may touch the mid 30s as winds become southerly in the afternoon. For additional weather updates follow @ABC17Stormtrack on Twitter.
