Overheated light bulb forces Boone County residents to briefly evacuate home
UPDATE 7:07am: Firefighters say an overheated light bulb caused fire alarms to go off in a Boone County home Friday morning. It happened around 5:30am. Firefighters say an overheated CFL light bulb caused fire alarms to go off. Residents told firefighters they smelled smoke when they woke up and decided to evacuate. They say the residents went to a neighbors house to stay warm in the freezing conditions. ORIGINAL: There are reports of a fire in southwest Boone County. At least eight emergency units are responding to the scene in the 7500 block of Hillside Drive ABC 17 News crews went to the scene and confirmed that a family evacuated themselves from their home when a light bulb overheated. The family stayed at a neighbor’s residence to stay warm.
